New simulator opened in Liverpool

UK Shipping Minister John Hayes was among the guests at the official opening of a new Maritime Bridge and Engine Simulator training facility in Liverpool, as part of a maritime graduate talent programme that has been developed in partnership with UK industry body Mersey Maritime.

Inmarsat and mobile operator Vodafone have announced a roaming agreement which will look to integrate technologies from the two companies to enable international satellite and cellular roaming connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Carnival Maritime, the marine service unit of Costa Group in Hamburg, has extended the remote monitoring services provided by its Fleet Operation Centre (FOC) to cover an additional 11 ships for P&O Cruises and the Cunard line.

Intellian begins IPO

Maritime satcom antenna manufacturer Intellian has begun an initial public offering of shares in the company on the KOSDAQ exchange in its home country of Korea, valuing the firm at $124 million.

Rolls-Royce has signed a deal to supply its first automatic crossing system to Norwegian ferry company Fjord1, an early step towards the company’s goal of creating fully autonomous vessels.

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has installed XChange Media, Marlink’s at-sea television system, on 44 of its vessels to provide on-demand multi-lingual content for crew via their personal devices.

Höegh LNG to use BASS for HSSEQ

Höegh LNG has chosen to implement the BASSnet Fleet Management System to manage the HSSEQ operations for its floating storage and regasification units (FSRU), including safety and risk management processes, audit and inspection management, document management, certificates, work & rest hours, as well as port management and related reporting.
