Crew news system launched by Marpoint

Marpoint has added a new crew welfare system with the launch of Evo News, a customised RSS package that delivers compressed news articles to vessels at sea.

Marorka and the Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute (SMDERI) have signed a cooperation agreement that will see the companies establish a product training and demonstration centre in Shanghai and work together to promote energy management and operational performance systems in the Chinese market.

Saab system for Great Lakes pilots

Saab reports that it has been awarded separate contracts from the Canadian Great Lakes Pilotage Authority and the Great Lakes Pilotage Division of the United States Coast Guard to upgrade the Great Lakes Pilot Management System to the latest version of Saab’s KleinPilot.

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has called on ship owners to upgrade to the latest ECDIS software standards ahead of the mandatory deadline, highlighting the benefits that the new updates can offer.

Oslo-based Xeneta, a provider of benchmarking and market intelligence systems for containerised ocean freight, is calling for the introduction of ‘commodity’ status for shipping containers, to help the market adjust to rock-bottom rates.
