MEOSAR knowledge portal launched

McMurdo has launched a web-based MEOSAR Knowledge Centre, an information portal for those wanting to learn more about the MEOSAR (Medium Earth Orbit Search and Rescue) project, the next generation version of the Cospas-Sarsat international search and rescue (SAR) satellite system that has helped to save more than 40,000 lives since 1982.

Radio Holland Canada reports that it has won two contracts to supply navigation and communications equipment to the Canadian Coast Guard.

“K” Line Group and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have announced the launch of the K-IMS integrated vessel operation and performance management system, a ‘Big Data analysis tool used to improve efficiency in ship operations.

Essberger fleet moves to VSAT

The Hamburg-headquartered John T. Essberger (JTE) Group is to move its entire fleet to VSAT, which will act as the primary communication system on all of the company’s 22 chemical tankers and nine dry cargo vessels. Installation is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Danelec Marine has launched a new computer-based training (CBT) program for its second-generation DM800 ECDIS G2 products, which allows students to download the training curriculum to their own computers or laptops to perform the self-study portion offline, at home or at sea.

Denmark has moved to digital certification of ships, transitioning from the traditional paper based system to using electronic certificates from 24 June 2016.
