The EU’s EfficienSea2 project has announced that it is testing a system for digitalising Navigational Warnings that it intends to propose as a global standard, based on the International Hydrographic Organization’s (IHO) S-124 draft standard for Navigational Warnings.
The Danish Maritime Fund has backed an Internet of Things (IoT) technology development pilot project led by Aalborg-based company GateHouse, which aims to use data collected from a variety of shipboard sensors to optimise vessel performance and provide information to authorities as required.
The Danish Maritime Authority has announced that it is launching a pre-study on autonomous ships together with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), to increase the country’s common knowledge base on the technology and to set a preliminary framework so that the development and use of unmanned ships can be planned in an appropriate manner.
Denmark has moved to digital certification of ships, transitioning from the traditional paper based system to using electronic certificates from 24 June 2016.
Danelec Marine reports that it will be heading up an integration-focused working group as part of the EU’s EfficienSea2 maritime innovation project, which aims to improve safety and increase efficiency at sea.
The EU has approved a DKK 85 million (approximately $12.5 million) Danish-led maritime innovation project, intended to enhance safety of navigation and increase efficiency at sea.
A study by the Danish Maritime Authority, supported by InterManager, has found that seafarers believe they are spending too much time on tasks they consider to be “an administrative burden.”
