Global Eagle Entertainment has signed a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) to provide internet and entertainment services across its Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) brand’s fleet of 14 ships.

Global Eagle Entertainment has launched a new Airtime Portal for cruise ships, a platform to enable cruise ship operators to deliver Wi-Fi, instant messaging, social media, live TV, movies, games and news directly to passengers’ mobile devices anywhere on the ship.

Pacific Basin Shipping has completed the deployment of KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband system across its entire owned fleet of Handysize and Supramax dry bulk ships, totaling 99 vessels.

Global Eagle Entertainment reports that it has expanded its portfolio of live programming delivered by satellite to cruise ships with the addition of new channels for crew members from India and the Philippines.

GEE adds cricket to maritime TV service

Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) has entered into an agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to offer telecasts of major cricket events to ships and to commercial aircraft through its global VSAT networks.

BBC launches maritime entertainment channel

UK broadcaster BBC has announced the launch of a global TV entertainment channel produced exclusively for cruise ships and the wider maritime market, via its BBC Worldwide division.

NSSLGlobal reports that it has acquired Norwegian IPTV company SnapTV, a deal which will see the companies work together to promote and develop entertainment services for maritime and offshore companies.

KVH reports that it has expanded its customer base on the IP-MobileCast content delivery service with a number of new shipping companies signing up in recent months.

KVH reports that it is introducing NEWSlink Live, a new digital content service for crews to allow them to receive a wider range of news, sports and entertainment content on their personal devices.
