Lloyd's MIU launches AIS Fleet Tracker

  • Friday, 20 July 2007 | News

Lloyd's MIU has launched a new Blue Water vessel and fleet tracking service, which allows companies to monitor the position of their ships using AIS (automatic identification system).

The system allows the user ashore to view both the vessel's position and the location of vessels within its AIS coverage, and can be configured to report back at intervals determined by the user (i.e. by the minute, hour or day) via the existing satellite communications system onboard.

This real time positioning of the ships can be viewed either on or by use of a bespoke data stream which can be linked directly into a company's proprietary data systems.

Interactive mapping options are also included to display information in the way best suited to the company's own requirements.
