Norwegian software firm acquires IB Marine

Italian IT company IB has been acquired by the Norwegian software and consultancy firm Arribatec, which has recently been listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The cost of acquisition is around EUR 1.6 million.

COVID-19 drives digital technology demand

A recent study by McKinsey has highlighted that responses to COVID-19 have speeded up the adoption of digital technologies by several years and suggests many of these changes could be here for the long haul.

ORBCOMM has expanded its portfolio of onboard vessel IoT systems to include LoRa WAN (LoRa) technology. Through a partnership with Net Feasa, a global IoT service provider based in Dingle, Ireland and Sunnyvale, CA, ORBCOMM has deployed the first commercially available solution using LoRa technology to monitor containers onboard vessels for a large global shipping line.

UK based StratumFive has signed an agreement with Inmarsat to join the fast-growing group of Certified Application Providers connecting with Inmarsat’s Fleet Data service.

Canadian software company Helm Operations and Western Australian marine consultant Tiller Technical have signed a new partnership agreement to help vessel operators digitalise their operations.
