Japanese classification society ClassNK and Finnish software provider NAPA have joined forces on a new project in an effort to reduce the time and cost of ship design.

New propulsion evaluation software from ClassNK

Japanese classification society ClassNK has launched the latest version of its PrimeShip-GREEN/MinPower software.

ClassNK is to take part in a joint research project with Daihatsu Diesel to test the extensibility of its condition based monitoring and automatic diagnostic system 'ClassNK CMAXS LC-A', with a view to incorporating functionality into the system to cover auxiliary diesel engines manufactured by Daihatsu Diesel.

ClassNK today announced that it will cooperate with Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding on the development of condition-based monitoring systems for electronically-controlled diesel engines on ships.

ClassNK acquires Helm Operations

ClassNK today announced the acquisition of Helm Operations (formerly Edoc Systems Group), a Canadian developer of operations software for the tug and barge and OSV industries.

Simulator manufacturer Transas Marine today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with classification society ClassNK to jointly develop standards and guidelines for the classification of maritime simulators.

ClassNK has released its new PrimeShip-GREEN/MinPower software developed to help shipyards comply with EEDI requirements by calculating the minimum propulsion power necessary to maintain the manoeuvrability of ships in adverse conditions.

ClassNK and NAPA today report that a K-Line containership which tested their voyage optimisation software saved almost 4 per cent of fuel.

Furuno NavSkills CAT approved by ClassNK

Furuno has announced that its NavSkills CAT (Computer Aided Training) distance learning system has been approved by ClassNK as fulfilling the requirements for ECDIS type specific familiarisation training.
