Cobham adds high power variant for FX system

Cobham SATCOM has introduced its new SAILOR 100 GX HP (High Power) Fleet Xpress, an updated version of its existing SAILOR 100 GX antenna system adapted for Inmarsat’s newly launched high data rate plans packages on Fleet Xpress.

Triband maritime antenna from Cobham

Cobham SATCOM has launched its Sea Tel 9711 Triband maritime antenna system, a 2.4m maritime stabilised antenna capable of connecting to C-, Ku-, or Ka-band networks.

TUDEV, the Turkish Maritime Education Foundation, has completed the installation of a range of SAILOR GMDSS systems, including Inmarsat Mini-C and maritime radios, on board a new training ship for Turkish maritime cadets.

Cobham simplifies dual GX antenna installations

Cobham SATCOM has created an integrated below decks system to simplify Inmarsat Fleet Xpress installations that use dual Ka-band antennas to combat satellite blocking from the ship structure or other deck equipment.

Cobham SATCOM reports that it is currently developing a range of augmented reality (AR) ‘smartglasses’, in collaboration with software house Kanda and Osterhout Design Group (ODG), for use by maritime service technicians installing and servicing antenna equipment on ships.

NSSLGlobal has launched FusionIP, a hybrid product combining VSAT and GSM connectivity using one single 60cm SAILOR dome that includes antennas for both services, allowing ships to automatically switch between 4G/3G and satellite networks.

CBO OSVs deploy VSAT and TVRO systems

Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) is to install Cobham SATCOM VSAT and satellite TV (TVRO) antennas, as well as additional radio communication equipment, on six new offshore support vessels (OSVs) set to enter service on development contracts offshore Brazil during 2017 and 2018.

Cobham launches Iridium Certus terminal

Cobham SATCOM has unveiled its first Iridium Certus Connected terminal, the SAILOR 4300, with the first customer shipment expected before the end of the year.

Cobham SATCOM reports that it has passed the milestone of delivering its 50,000th SAILOR FleetBroadband terminal, ten years after the system was launched in parallel with Inmarsat’s L-band maritime satcom service in 2007.

Buffalo Computer Graphics (BCG) has upgraded its Virtual Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (VGMDSS) simulation software to add a new Inmarsat-C and Radio Telex terminal simulation.
