Instant online container booking from Maersk

Maersk has launched an instant booking system for its container services, aiming to allow customers to book a container with the shipping company as easily as booking a flight ticket online.

Ports America reports that it has implemented the Navis N4 system at its 47 acre Napoleon Container Terminal in New Orleans, Louisiana, to optimise container flows through the terminal.

Shipping crypto currency continues development

300cubits, founder of the TEU cryptocurrency aimed at the global shipping sector, says that it aims to begin distributing free crypto tokens to industry stakeholders from February 2018, as talks continue with major container lines.

Korean container shipping company SM Line has agreed a deal with Intellian to deploy Intellian V100 maritime VSAT antenna equipment on board its ships, to be used for data and communications services while also powering a new IoT (Internet of Things) freight monitoring system being rolled out across the fleet.
