Comms widgets for CrewXchange

SingTel, in collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, has developed 46 widgets specially designed for its CrewXchange portal to help seafarers plan their stay in Singapore.

Thuraya has launched a new satellite voice calling product, the Thuraya SatSleeve, a device which can be used to bring satellite connectivity to a regular Apple iPhone.

Globecomm Maritime has introduced Access Chat Plus, an optimised chat and video conferencing application designed for maritime satellite communications, offering 'marinised' version of services similar to those available via Skype.

Free port Wi-Fi from Three

Mobile network operator Three is to provide seafarers visiting ports across the UK with free mobile internet as part of a national scheme being run in collaboration with the UK Merchant Navy Welfare Board, which aims to connect international seafarers with their families using internet communications tools.
