VARD adds INS to research vessel

Raytheon Anschütz reports that it has won a contract with VARD Holding for the supply of a Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to a research vessel under construction at Cochin Shipyard.

Wärtsilä has introduced its new SmartPredict system, developed by the company's Dynamic Positioning unit to reduce manoeuvring risks by displaying the vessel’s predicted future position and heading.

Transas has signed a partnership agreement with Satcom Global to add integrated connectivity to THESIS, its unified platform for digital operations on ships and in shore-based offices, adding to another partnership deal agreed with JRC at the end of February.

ECDIS Ltd expands ACAT

ECDIS Ltd has extended its range of ECDIS ACAT (Annual Competency Assurance Training) courses to now include the new JRC 7201/9201 and Furuno FMD ECDIS models.

Maritime navigation technology companies Transas and Japan Radio Company (JRC) have announced a new strategic partnership that will see the two companies work together on research and development, product distribution and project collaboration.

ECDIS manufacturer Furuno will provide 43 ships with Sea Traffic Management-compatible on board systems, becoming the fourth ECDIS supplier supporting the project along with Transas, Wärtsilä SAM Electronics and Adveto.

ECDIS Ltd has introduced an offline version of its Annual Competency Assurance Training (ACAT) courses, to allow for study on ships with little or no internet access.

Adveto begins work on ECDIS G8

Swedish maritime technology company Adveto has announced that it has commenced development of its new ECDIS platform, called ECDIS G8.

The EU-backed Sea Traffic Management (STM) project reports that it has entered its second procurement phase and is currently searching for an additional ECDIS manufacturer to get involved with the initiative to further test interoperability between various systems and providers.

British ferry company P&O Ferries, an operator of ferries sailing from the UK to Ireland and Continental Europe, has selected GNS to provide navigation products and services for its fleet of 15 vessels.
