Briese Schiffahrt appoints KR for MRV

Briese Schiffahrt, a general cargo, multipurpose and heavy lift vessel operator headquartered in Leer, Germany, has appointed the Korean Register (KR) as its provider of European Union Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (EU-MRV) services.

Bluetracker MRV module approved

The Navis Bluetracker monitoring and reporting software has been declared ‘MRV Ready’ by DNV GL, following a validation gap analysis audit conducted by the classification society confirming that the MRV module supports three of the prescribed four monitoring methods and collects all MRV-relevant data.

Pacific region MTCC announced

The IMO has announced its selection for the latest regional Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre (MTCC), with the Pacific Community (SPC) to host MTCC-Pacific in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced that International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) has been selected to host the regional Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre (MTCC) for the Latin America region, joining MTCCs in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean to work on projects aimed at mitigating the harmful effects of climate change.

MRV module for Bluetracker

Navis is to introduce a new Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) module to its Bluetracker fleet performance management system, tailored to the new EU MRV regulations that will apply to all ships of more than 5,000 GT that enter EU ports as of January 1, 2018.
