Inmarsat has confirmed the successful launch of the fourth satellite in its Global Xpress (GX) constellation, which will be used to augment the existing global three-satellite communications network already in operation.
Greece-based Thenamaris Ship Management has begun a fleet-wide rollout of Inmarsat’s Ka-band Fleet Xpress (FX) service following the agreement of a contract with satellite communications provider Navarino.
Hapag-Lloyd has agreed a five-year deal with Inmarsat to migrate approximately 80 owned ships to services enabled for Fleet Xpress.

Inmarsat has signed a service and installation agreement with Radio Holland to support migration of customers from Ku-based XpressLink to Fleet Xpress services. The non-exclusive agreement is in addition to Inmarsat’s existing service partner and VAR arrangements, and aims to draw on the Radio Holland support network to accelerate the installation of Fleet Xpress on a global scale.
SpeedCast has become the first Inmarsat partner to integrate the software element of the Fleet Xpress Network Service Device (SoftNSD) into its Fleet Xpress offering, the companies report.
Marlink reports that it has signed an agreement to enter into a joint venture with the satellite connectivity business of Greece and Cyprus based TNL Group, to launch a new business focused specifically on those two countries called Marlink CG.

Cyprus-based Satlink Satellite Communications, a member of the Tototheo Group, has entered into a new agreement with Inmarsat to integrate Fleet Xpress into its existing service portfolio, and has committed to bringing more than 1,500 vessels onto the Fleet Xpress service over a five-year period.
