Antarctic cruiser deploys Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat has announced that it has completed a successful trial and subsequent commercial order for its Fleet Xpress service in Antarctic waters on board the adventure cruise ship Ocean Nova, in conjunction with its partners Global Marine Networks and Network Innovations.

Inmarsat and Ericsson have signed a strategic maritime agreement will see the two companies jointly develop satellite and application integration packages to connect ships at sea with services in the Cloud and on shore.

RigNet has signed an agreement with Inmarsat to offer Fleet Xpress, the maritime version of the Global Xpress service, to the oil and gas maritime sector.

Inmarsat joins autonomous ship project

Inmarsat has joined the €6.6 million Advanced Autonomous Waterborne Applications Initiative (AAWA) recently launched by Rolls-Royce, a project which aims to produce the specification and preliminary designs for a range of ship solutions in the area of unmanned vessel operation.

Inmarsat has been forced to delay the launch of its final Global Xpress (GX) satellite following the failure of the preceding Proton Breeze M launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Saturday 16 May.

MVS USA has been added to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) Value Added Reseller (VAR) network, becoming a maritime sales partner for FleetBroadband Xtra and Fleet Xpress.

Inmarsat reports that the second satellite in its Global Xpress (GX) constellation was launched successfully on Sunday February 1 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Inmarsat updates name of FB/GX product

Inmarsat has made a change to the branding of its hybrid product combining FleetBroadband with regional Global Xpress Ka-band coverage on its current single operational I-5 satellite, with the service now called FleetBroadband Xtra.

Inmarsat has announced that the second satellite in its Global Xpress (GX) constellation, the Inmarsat-5 F-2, has arrived at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan ahead of its launch in early 2015.
