Furuno systems for largest US container vessel

The largest container vessel ever built in the United States, the Daniel K. Inouye, designed to deliver cargo between Hawaii and west coast continental US ports for ocean cargo transportation firm Matson Inc, has been delivered with a range of navigation and communication systems supplied by Furuno.

Nautisk and Furuno ink partnership

Nautisk has announced a new partnership with Japan-based marine electronics firm Furuno Electronics, which will see the companies work together on the development of new products combining their respective experience in the software and hardware sectors.

Furuno has completed the delivery of a range of navigation systems to two new Crowley Maritime Corp LNG-powered Commitment class ConRo (combination container and Roll-On/Roll-Off) vessels, the El Coquí and Taíno.

MOL to test intelligent awareness system

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has agreed a deal with Rolls-Royce to collaborate in the testing of intelligent awareness systems for ships, starting with installation on board the 165m passenger ferry Sunflower, operated by MOL-Group Ferry Sunflower Limited on a 222-nautical mile route between Kobe and Oita via the Akashi Kaikyo, Bisan Seto and Kurushima Straits.

ECDIS manufacturer Furuno will provide 43 ships with Sea Traffic Management-compatible on board systems, becoming the fourth ECDIS supplier supporting the project along with Transas, Wärtsilä SAM Electronics and Adveto.

BCG releases Furuno radar emulation

Buffalo Computer Graphics (BCG) has added another emulation product to its family of Radar Emulators, to cover the Furuno FAR21X7 radar.

NAPA and Furuno report that they have integrated NAPA’s Performance Monitoring and Logbook software packages with Furuno’s hardware to create a market-ready data logging and reporting system, using data signals already present onboard ships today.

Radio Holland Canada reports that it has won two contracts to supply navigation and communications equipment to the Canadian Coast Guard.
