KVH has announced that Crewtoo has surpassed 100,000 members just 16 months after its launch, making it the world’s largest social network dedicated to mariners.
Headland Media, purchased in May 2013 by KVH, reports that its Crewtoo social media site for seafarers has now passed 60,000 members in the 12 months since its introduction in August 2012.
KVH Industries has acquired Headland Media, a UK-based company which distributes licenced content such as movies, sports and music to the maritime industry. It is the first time that KVH has moved from providing vessels with a satellite connection to also offering its own content via its mini-VSAT Broadband network.
Crewtoo, an online community for seafarers, has launched new features to allow its 40,000 members to share images, form groups and read daily news.
The Crewtoo.com social media site for seafarers reports that it has now reached 6,000 members, a 300 per cent increase in two months.
