GasLog orders simulators for LNG crew training

GasLog has agreed a contract with Kongsberg Digital (KDI) for the delivery of a new LNG simulator package for training of GasLog’s LNG carrier crews.

Furuno has completed the delivery of a range of navigation systems to two new Crowley Maritime Corp LNG-powered Commitment class ConRo (combination container and Roll-On/Roll-Off) vessels, the El Coquí and Taíno.

Bunker safety training CBT launched by Videotel

KVH Videotel has launched an LNG bunkering training course to promote safe bunkering processes, based on guidelines from the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) and developed in response to growth in the use of LNG as a bunker fuel by operators looking to meet the low sulphur targets required by MARPOL Annex VI.

Wärtsilä has signed a ten-year maintenance agreement with MOL LNG Transport Europe, an affiliate of the Japanese MOL Group, to cover online remote support and all scheduled engine maintenance activities for two LNG carriers.

Nakilat rolls out Ku-band VSAT across fleet

Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) and partner Radiance Communications have begun the deployment of maritime VSAT services across Qatari LNG transport company Nakilat’s fleet of LNG and LPG carriers.

Kongsberg Maritime is to supply an integrated automation solution to South Korean ship owner Ilshin Shipping Company, for installation on a newbuild 50,000 dwt LNG fuelled bulk carrier being built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

LR and QinetiQ team up on GasLog cyber project

Lloyd’s Register (LR) and QinetiQ have announced that they are working together on a pilot project with LNG carrier operator GasLog to explore ways of increasing the level of security on cyber-enabled ships, with tailored methodologies for LNG vessels with respect to IMO/USCG guidelines and available standards.

DNV GL has introduced its new LNG intelligence portal (LNGi), which aims to bring stakeholders from across the LNG industry together to share market intelligence and contribute to the uptake of LNG as a ship fuel.

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and software company NAPA have announced a new tailored NAPA-DSME Power solution for LNG carriers built by DSME.
