IBM and Maersk have announced a new collaboration to use blockchain technology to improve operations in the global supply chain by increasing data transparency and information sharing.

Maersk Fluid Technology (MFT) has upgraded its SEA-Mate Blending-on-Board Value Calculator to include a mobile optimised version, to allow users to evaluate the different potential lubricant costs with regard to their specific engine and running conditions in a variety of real life scenarios while on the move.

Maersk Line agrees vessel tracking deal

Maersk Line, the world’s largest container shipping company, has entered into a two-year agreement with BigOceanData for the provision of vessel tracking services. The initial system is now live and already in use in operation centres around the world on both desktop and mobile devices.

Danelec Marine reports that it has received orders to supply Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) for 27 new Maersk containerships, currently under construction at shipyards in China and Korea.

Four-year IT contract for Maersk Tankers

Maersk Tankers has agreed a long-term strategic ICT systems and support deal with Sea IT, covering all vessels operating within its fleet.

Wärtsilä has agreed to supply its Nacos Platinum series of integrated navigation, automation, and propulsion control systems for 27 new container vessels being built for Maersk Line at yards in China and South Korea, the sum of three contracts agreed since summer 2015.

Maersk Tankers, the owner and operator of one of the world’s largest fleets of product tankers, has chosen to install Inmarsat’s Fleet Media maritime entertainment service on 30 of its vessels as part of a pilot scheme.

ABB reports that it is working with MeteoGroup to equip 140 Maersk Line containerships with advisory software that will help to optimise routes based on factors including hull design and weather.

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has been selected to upgrade the radar and ECDIS systems on more than 80 Maersk Line vessels over the course of the next two years.

Maersk Line selects Transas

Transas has been awarded a contract to outfit the Maersk Line fleet with ECDIS, rolling out across more than 100 container vessels.
