Van Oord agrees fleet-wide VSAT deal

Marlink is to provide VSAT services for the entire fleet of the international dredging and offshore contractor Van Oord, a contract expected to include 30 vessels by the end of 2015.

AMPTC agrees SpeedCast VSAT deal

SpeedCast has been awarded a three-year VSAT contract from Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC), an operator of LPG carriers, crude oil tankers and product carriers.

MTN Communications (MTN) reports that it has doubled the number of cruise ships connected to its Terrestrial Broadband Network (TBN) compared with last year, and has tripled the number of regions where service coverage is available.

In a surprise move, Airbus Defence and Space has announced that it plans to sell off its commercial satellite communications business, including its maritime satcom business and direct sales subsidiary Marlink.

Marlink WaveCall Plus VSAT for 17 UASC newbuilds

Marlink reports that United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has selected its WaveCall Plus VSAT services for 17 newbuild containerships, the first of which is due for delivery by the end of the year.

Danish service provider Seasat today announced that it has won a three-year contract to supply more than 60 VSAT systems to Maersk Supply Service vessels.

Marlink has announced that Scorpio Ship Management (SSM) has chosen its WaveCall Ku-band VSAT services for 75 newbuild tankers and bulkers to be delivered throughout 2015 and 2016.

Offshore vessels in ITC Global broadband deal

Satellite communications provider ITC Global has been awarded a three year contract by offshore support vessel operator Harkand for the provision of broadband connectivity for mission critical voice, video and data applications on vessels operating in the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, Africa and Asia Pacific.
