Knutsen extends VSAT contract for tanker fleet

Norwegian tanker company Knutsen has extended its satcom contract with Marlink, covering VSAT and back-up services for the fleet of 38 shuttle tankers, LNG carriers, and product and chemical tankers, as well as two planned newbuilds.

Speedcast to increase RCCL bandwidth provision

Speedcast has extended its relationship with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) to increase the bandwidth available to RCCL’s 37 ships using Speedcast’s VSAT services.

SES’ latest satellite, SES-12, has been unveiled for the first time to a group of journalists at Airbus Defence and Space’s headquarters in Toulouse, France, as it undergoes final tests before transport to Cape Canaveral, Florida, for launch in March 2018.

Shipmanager E.R. Schiffahrt has agreed a deal to implement KVH VSAT systems on its fleet of container and dry bulk vessels, including TracPhone V7-HTS antenna equipment, under KVH’s AgilePlans subscription-based Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) programme.

Euronav begins Aura VSAT roll out

Antwerp-based tanker company Euronav has agreed a deal with Satcom Global to roll out the Aura Ku-band VSAT service across its fleet, following the successful completion of sea trials with the system carried out over the course of 2017.

Campbell Shipping to migrate to Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat reports that it has reached an agreement with ship management company Campbell Shipping, headquartered in Nassau, The Bahamas, to migrate its fleet of dry bulk carriers to the Fleet Xpress VSAT service.

Prepaid crew calling launched for Fleet Xpress

Marlink has added a new prepaid voice card calling facility for use with the Inmarsat Fleet Xpress network, noting that it is the first Value Added Reseller (VAR) for the Ka-band service to provide prepaid cards.

Radio Holland reports that it has agreed a deal to supply navigation and communication systems packages to six newbuild vessels being built for Dutch shipping company Wijnne Barends, based in Delfzijl.
