AST and Thales agree Certus partnership

The AST Group (AST) has announced a partnership with Thales covering the supply of Thales VesseLINK terminals for use with Iridium’s new Certus L-band satcom service.

Speedcast has launched a range of new subscription plans for the yachting market called Speedcast Bandwidth on Demand, for use with Kymeta KyWay flat-panel antennas.

Cruise company Carnival has completed the installation of Intellian’s v240MT tri-band and multi-orbit 2.4 metre antennas onboard several of its cruise vessels, the companies report, with the equipment having been specifically designed to deliver data rates exceeding 1 Gbps.

Triband maritime antenna from Cobham

Cobham SATCOM has launched its Sea Tel 9711 Triband maritime antenna system, a 2.4m maritime stabilised antenna capable of connecting to C-, Ku-, or Ka-band networks.

The maritime satcom market (both MSS and VSAT) will grow to more than 500,000 terminals in 2027, compared to 337,300 terminals in 2017, with revenues for satellite operators and maritime service providers to enjoy a compound annual growth rate of more than 5 per cent, according to the latest report from Euroconsult.

Intellian launches dual FX antenna system

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}Intellian has launched a new dual antenna system linked by a new device called a GX Mediator, which will manage automatic switching between two GX antennas on a single service package in case of blockage of one of the antennas, to maintain a constant connection.

New generation of FB terminals planned

Inmarsat and Intellian report that they have signed an outline agreement covering the design and manufacture of a new generation of FleetBroadband terminals, supporting both the existing I-4 satellite network as well as Inmarsat’s planned sixth generation I-6 satellite constellation, the first of which is scheduled for launch in 2020.

Kymeta and Intelsat have announced the commercial launch of Kymeta’s KĀLO satellite internet service, powered by the IntelsatOne Flex network.

Korean container shipping company SM Line has agreed a deal with Intellian to deploy Intellian V100 maritime VSAT antenna equipment on board its ships, to be used for data and communications services while also powering a new IoT (Internet of Things) freight monitoring system being rolled out across the fleet.

Cobham simplifies dual GX antenna installations

Cobham SATCOM has created an integrated below decks system to simplify Inmarsat Fleet Xpress installations that use dual Ka-band antennas to combat satellite blocking from the ship structure or other deck equipment.
