Teekay Offshore has renewed and expanded its VSAT connectivity agreements with Marlink for a further four years.

Marlink will launch Sealink Global 4G at Nor-Shipping 2019. The new all-encompassing hybrid communication service will leverage fast, low-latency mobile services when in network range while complementing VSAT connectivity when in regulated regions.

The demand for connectivity in the expedition cruise market is growing rapidly, says satellite communications company Marlink who is today contracting twice the satellite capacity specifically for the expedition sector as it was 12 months ago.

Fairfield Geotechnologies, a Houston-based data and solutions provider has selected Marlink to provide a customised VSAT solution for two Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) seismic survey vessels operating on behalf of oil & gas industry clients.

Overseas Adventure Travel (O.A.T.) and Marlink have entered into an agreement that will see the installation of Marlink’s satellite voice and data connectivity services on-board five adventure cruise ships in the O.A.T. fleet.

Marlink, and its Group subsidiary company Palantir, have agreed a deal with Torvald Klaveness to become the preferred supplier of satcom and IT management systems for vessels managed by Klaveness Ship Management.

Marlink extends Transpetrol contract

Tanker owner Transpetrol has signed a renewal of its VSAT contract with Marlink, which will see the vessel operator expand its use of the Sealink VSAT service to its the entire tanker fleet, as well as two planned newbuildings due for delivery within the next 18 months.

Private Access Point added for North Sea LTE

Marlink has completed the implementation of a new private Access Point Name (APN) on the Tampnet North Sea LTE network in the North Sea, to provide offshore vessels with improved 4G connectivity in addition to its satellite services as part of its hybrid communications portfolio.

Genavir, the vessel operating arm of Ifremer (the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea), has rolled out the Marlink XChange Telemed crew health and safety management service across five ocean-going research vessels; Alis, Antea, L’Atalante, Pourquoi Pas? and Thalassa.

Marlink expands cyber services

Marlink has expanded its range of cyber security services for maritime with the addition of a new Cyber Detection system which monitors all outbound and inbound network traffic and displays alerts through a web-based dashboard.
