A new pollution monitoring solution that combines remote sensing, Earth observation data, machine learning and high-performance computing, has been launched by CGG.

MPC Container Ships has announced its support and membership of the recently launched Eyesea initiative. Eyesea is developing a maritime pollution reporting and mapping smartphone application through the use of geotagged pictures.

Eyesea has successfully tested its pollution-mapping app on ocean-going vessels and is now stepping up trials ahead of a further roll-out later this year.

Voyager Worldwide has announced the availability of a new port information module in its Voyager FLEET INSIGHT service.

Shipping leaders have united in their support of pollution mapping initiative Eyesea which was officially launched today. Eyesea, a not-for-profit organisation, uses cutting edge technology and the support of seafarers, shipowners, managers and maritime professionals to collect and process oceanic pollution data.

Lloyd’s Register (LR) and the UK P&I Club have launched three new checklist apps dealing with fire safety, marine pollution, and port state controls.

Satellite evidence used in tanker case

The UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) says that it has, for the first time, successfully used satellite imagery as primary evidence in a maritime pollution prosecution.
