SEACOR agrees 30-vessel VSAT deal

The AST Group (AST) has won a contract with SEACOR Marine International (SEACOR) to supply VSAT and failover satellite communications to 30 vessels.

Netherlands-based Shipping Company Groningen has agreed a deal to roll out the shipznet vessel communications systems on part of its fleet of vessels.

Italian ship owner d’Amico Group is to implement Marlink’s Sealink Premium Plus VSAT service across its fleet of more than 50 dry cargo and product tankers, the companies report.

Hamburg-based shipping group Reederei Hamburger Lloyd is to move its fleet of nine container ships and six bulkers to Marlink’s Sealink Plus package, including Ku-band VSAT and unlimited L-band backup.

CBO OSVs deploy VSAT and TVRO systems

Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) is to install Cobham SATCOM VSAT and satellite TV (TVRO) antennas, as well as additional radio communication equipment, on six new offshore support vessels (OSVs) set to enter service on development contracts offshore Brazil during 2017 and 2018.

Medical ship gets nav and comms overhaul

The Vine Trusts’ latest medical ship, MV Forth Hope, is to be outfitted with a new navigation and communications system by Ships Electronic Services (SES) ahead of an upcoming project in the Peruvian Amazon.

Silversea Cruises has agreed a deal with Telenor Maritime and SES to roll out a mobile ecosystem on board its fleet of eight vessels, including global VSAT services and mobile broadband backhaul, 3G and Wi-Fi with speeds up to 150 Mbps.

Ship management company Wallem Group has agreed a deal to make Inmarsat’s Fleet Xpress Ka-band VSAT service its favoured connectivity choice for ships at sea.
