Spliethoff agrees 72-vessel satcom deal

Radio Holland Netherlands has been awarded a contract to supply at least 72 Spliethoff vessels with improved VSAT connectivity, covering existing installations and new additions as well as Iridium OpenPort and FleetBroadband backup connections, while also signing a Service Agreement for the maintenance of equipment on board 116 ships in the Spliethoff fleet.

Parkou tankers to roll-out Aura VSAT

Singapore based ship management company Parakou has agreed a deal to implement Satcom Global’s Aura VSAT system across its fleet of tankers, with the Ku-band service now live on eight vessels following an eight week rapid installation programme in Asia and the USA.

Smit Lamnalco to roll out mini-VSAT

KVH has announced that it has begun the roll-out of its mini-VSAT system on offshore vessels operated by Smit Lamnalco, following an agreement finalised earlier this year.

Hamburg-based Leonhardt & Blumberg (L&B), an independent charter owner of handysize containerships, has become the first customer for Marlink’s new Sealink Business VSAT service, agreeing a guaranteed minimum bandwidth Ku-band package to be rolled out to its entire fleet.

40-vessel VSAT deal for Castor Marine

Netherlands-based Castor Marine, fresh from its recent acquisition of fellow Dutch maritime IT company Watum Solutions, has announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver more than 40 Ku-band VSAT systems with FleetBroadband as back-up to vessels operated by Wagenborg Shipping.

Green Reefers opts for NSSLGlobal VSAT

Following a successful initial trial project, NSSLGlobal reports that it has signed a new contract with Green Reefers which will see Ku-band VSAT systems installed on board more than 18 cargo vessels.

Hapag-Lloyd has agreed a five-year deal with Inmarsat to migrate approximately 80 owned ships to services enabled for Fleet Xpress.

Fleet Management Limited (FML), which manages a fleet of over 400 vessels of various types with more than 14,000 crew, reports that it has upgraded all vessels previously equipped with Inmarsat’s XpressLink Ku-band service to the Ka-band Fleet Xpress service, and expects to roll out Fleet Xpress to the majority of its fleet globally by 2018.
