Globalstar and Arianespace settle differences

Globalstar and launch services provider Arianespace have settled a payment dispute between the companies which will see the fourth launch campaign under the companies’ current Launch Services Agreement go ahead.

Globalstar's attempts to continue with the roll out of its second generation constellation has suffered the latest in a series of setbacks, after launch provider Arianespace served notice of a default on payments.

Harris CapRock Communications and MTN have both announced deals to utilise Intelsat's newly announced EpicNG network to provide VSAT services after the new satellites are launched.

Satellite AIS company exactEarth has announced the successful launch of its new exactView 1 (EV-1) satellite, carrying its second generation AIS detection payload.

After its recent tribulations and disagreements with satellite manufacturer Thales Alenia Space, Globalstar has had some significant positive news to report, with the announcement that its satellite operations control centre has initiated the steps needed to place four previously launched satellites into service by mid-August.

Globalstar reports it has reached a settlement of its prior disputes with Thales Alenia Space France and has agreed to the terms of a commercial proposal for the purchase of six additional spacecraft from Thales.

Intelsat has introduced its EpicNG satellite platform, a new series of satellites which will combine Intelsat's spectral rights in the C-, Ku- and Ka-bands.

Arbitration setback for Globalstar

Globalstar has suffered a major setback in its plans to launch its second generation satellite constellation, after commercial arbitration of a dispute with Thales Alenia Space France was decided in favour of the French satellite manufacturer.

Iridium reaches NEXT phase

Iridium has announced the completion of the satellite preliminary design review phase for its next-generation satellite constellation, Iridium NEXT.

Globalstar has entered into an amendment to its COFACE credit facility agreement, which has extended the initial principal repayment date on its debt beyond 2012.
