UASC rolls out at-sea TV to 44 vessels

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has installed XChange Media, Marlink’s at-sea television system, on 44 of its vessels to provide on-demand multi-lingual content for crew via their personal devices.

ITC Global improves Crew LIVE

ITC Global has released an enhanced version of ITC Crew LIVE, a crew welfare service aimed at the offshore industry that offers communications and entertainment options, including internet connectivity and live TV.

Global Eagle Entertainment has entered into a three-year global distribution agreement with Lagardère Sports, a producer and distributor of sports programming, which will give GEE the rights to distribute over 10,000 hours of live and produced sports programming to commercial flights and ships at sea through its global VSAT networks.

Phasor has completed a successful demonstration of the transmission of live HD video over its flat panel, electronically steered antenna (ESA) system, connecting with the Intelsat 903 satellite from its test site in Essex, UK, as the company works towards full commercialisation of the technology.

Nakilat of Qatar implements EMC VSAT

Nakilat, the shipping arm of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas sector, has implemented Ku-band VSAT services from Global Eagle Entertainment’s Emerging Markets Communications (EMC) service line on vessels in its fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers.

GEE signs video content deal

Global Eagle Entertainment, which recently completed the purchase of maritime VSAT company EMC, reports that it has entered into a global distribution agreement with The QYOU, a provider of hosted online short-form video content, that will link its offerings with GEE’s Entertainment in Motion division.

Intellian reports that it has completed a triple installation of 2.4m VSAT antennas for the next generation Petronas Floating Liquid Natural Gas (PFLNG) vessel Satu, built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.

EMC, recently acquired by Global Eagle Entertainment (pending closure of the deal), reports that it has taken orders to supply VSAT equipment and services for seven platform supply vessels in the North Sea as part of a four-year fleet agreement with GulfMark in Norway.
