Seagull to produce ISF e-books

Seagull has signed a licensing agreement with the International Shipping Federation (ISF), the employers’ association for shipowners, which will allow Seagull to utilise electronic versions of ISF Onboard Training Record Books.

The electronic versions of the books will be made available in conjunction with Seagull’s Competence Manager software.

The agreement grants Seagull the right to develop an electronic version of all four ISF Record Books and sub-licence these to ship operators who choose to use the Seagull Training Administrator program.

Kongsberg launches K-Master course

Kongsberg Maritime reports that it has completed development and the pilot course for a specialised training programme for offshore support vessel crews using its K-Master aft- and forward-bridge workstation.

A group of maritime industry organisations has issued a statement highlighting their concerns about levels of competence in ECDIS training.

ECDIS Ltd extends Kelvin Hughes training

ECDIS training and consultancy company ECDIS Ltd has signed a new agreement with Kelvin Hughes to offer training on Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital systems, on a global basis.

Furuno Shanghai reports that it has begun providing Furuno type specific ECDIS training for the Chinese market, the sixth training facility to join the Furuno NavSkills training network.

PC Maritime reports that 100 navigating officers have now successfully completed its ECDIS Type Training course and passed the Assessment test required for formal certification since the course was issued in March.

UKHO launches guide to use of ENCs

The UKHO, via its Admiralty brand, has launched a series of new publications and training products aimed at assisting seafarers in the move to digital navigation, called 'The Admiralty Guide to the Practical use of ENCs'.
