Online cyber course gets MCA approval

JWC International, in partnership with Navarino, has had its one hour online e-Learning course on cyber security awareness approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Videotel has launched a new e-Learning content delivery platform that will allow users to view its range of maritime training programmes on a variety of devices, including tablets and mobile phones, both for studying and for testing their progress.

Computer based training company Seagull reports that it has collaborated with DNV GL to implement the classification society’s e-learning modules on cyber security into the Seagull training system.

VIKING Saatsea, the maritime e-learning unit of VIKING Life-Saving Equipment (VIKING), has released a new set of computer based courses for training in the ISPS Code (the International Ship and Port Security Code).

LNG tanker management company GasLog LNG Services is to implement Seagull Maritime’s e-Learning system and Competence Management platform across its fleet and in its manning offices, while also offering supplementary online access.

Seagull Maritime has collaborated with maritime incident response company MTI Network to produce onboard and online training content on social media awareness.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has released a computer based training programme, produced by Videotel, to encourage safe navigation in the Singapore Strait.

Danelec Marine has launched a new computer-based training (CBT) program for its second-generation DM800 ECDIS G2 products, which allows students to download the training curriculum to their own computers or laptops to perform the self-study portion offline, at home or at sea.

The charitable group International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) has partnered with Marlins, part of V.Group, to create a new e-Learning course to help seafarers prevent and prepare for piracy attacks. The launch has been announced to coincide with IMO's Day of the Seafarer on 25 June.
