NewWave in $2m VSAT expansion deal

NewWave Broadband Ltd. has agreed a deal for US$2 million worth of satellite communications products from iDirect, to expand its maritime VSAT service.

SpecTec has signed an agreement to deliver its AMOS2 Enterprise Suite to China Merchants Energy Shipping Co Ltd, one of China's largest shipping companies.

Inmarsat buys into SkyWave

Inmarsat has acquired what it describes as a "significant" stake in SkyWave Mobile Communications Inc of Ottawa, Canada, a provider of low data rate satellite services.

The EU-backed HERCULES-Beta research project proposal, which aims to explore technologies combining fuel efficiency with ultra-low emissions in the development of clean marine diesel engines, has been approved by the European Commission.
