Fish Chat will operate via Inmarsat’s Fleet One service, and will provide users with texting and picture exchange capabilities, as well as push-to-talk voice services. The application is available on both iOS and Android, allowing fishermen to stay connected using their own devices.

“We are delighted that MCN Beijing has developed an application which is fit for purpose for the needs and requirements of the local market and optimises the Fleet One service for their customers” said Ronald Spithout, the recently appointed president of Inmarsat Maritime.

Fleet One, Inmarsat’s data service for fishing and leisure vessels, has been available globally since August.
