Iridium and Furuno announce partnership

Iridium has announced a strategic partnership with Furuno which will see the Japanese maritime technology manufacturer begin marketing Iridium satellite services and products, initially in Japan.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}“We are extremely pleased to announce our relationship with Iridium and offer the many benefits of its satellite network to our customers,” said Kazuma Waimatsu, director, satcom department, marine electronic division, Furuno.

“Iridium products and services provide excellent reliability and global coverage, which our customers appreciate and need.”

As part of this agreement, Furuno will be expanding its satellite communications portfolio to include Iridium Pilot, the smartphone online access device Iridium GO!, the Iridium Extreme handset, and the Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD) service.
