Cobham launches Iridium Certus terminal

Cobham SATCOM has unveiled its first Iridium Certus Connected terminal, the SAILOR 4300, with the first customer shipment expected before the end of the year.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}Due to go live in the first half of 2018, Iridium Certus is the satellite service that will be made available through Iridium NEXT, the company’s second-generation L-band global satellite constellation.

The SAILOR 4300 system is being targeted for use as either a primary communications channel or as a part of multi-band communication networks, with the antenna equipment including a specially designed VSAT integrator ‘smart box’ to facilitate integration with other systems on board.

“The SAILOR 4300 for Iridium Certus is designed for users to get the most from Iridium’s next generation services,” said Casper Jensen, senior vice president, Cobham SATCOM.

Cobham SATCOM is one of two approved terminal developers for Certus antennas for the maritime market, with Thales being the other.{/mprestriction}
