Phasor agrees DSM partnership for radome development

Flat panel satcom antenna company Phasor has announced a new partnership with DSM to develop a radome for its phased array, electronically steerable antennas (ESAs) using DSM’s Dyneema technology.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The companies say they will be working under a long-term agreement to combine Phasor’s ESA expertise with DSM’s experience applying Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene (UHMWPE) materials for use in radio frequency (RF) applications.

“With near-zero signal loss, Dyneema Crystal technology helps Phasor optimise it’s powerful new ESA for aeronautical, maritime and land-mobile applications,” said Dave Helfgott, CEO, Phasor.

“In addition to the material’s electromagnetic transparency, Phasor chose Dyneema for its superior protection of sensitive equipment in harsh outdoor environments and its extreme light weight which is critical for commercial mobility applications.”

Phasor’s electronically steerable antenna (ESA) is solid-state, with no moving parts, so satellite signals have to be tracked electronically. The ESA can be flat or conformal in design and can operate with a variety of satellite networks.{/mprestriction}
