GSM-based vessel internet system launched by Martek Marine

Martek Marine has launched a new vessel internet system based on GSM connectivity, which will be marketed under the name SeaCell.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}SeaCell uses 4G technology to provide connection speeds of up to 20 Mbps out to a range of approximately 20km from shore.

Martek says that the system can connect to the existing communications network on a vessel, so that it can be retro-fitted in under four hours.

Rix Shipping has been confirmed as one of the early users of the service, with Martek Marine set to offer the GSM system to the wider market via its offices in the UK and Singapore.{/mprestriction}
