{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The objective of the strategy is to ensure that safety in Danish waters is not compromised by cyber-attacks. Responsibility for cyber and information security in the maritime sector lies with the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA), with the new strategy covering navigation in Danish waters and safety on board Danish ships, including systems and software for operation, propulsion and navigation.
In addition, services such as traffic monitoring, warning and information systems, as well as other systems with a connection to a ship’s safe navigation are included in the government’s plans.
The Danish Maritime Authority has established a dedicated Danish Maritime Cybersecurity Unit in accordance with the new initiative, which is to handle the practical implementation of the strategy.
Among the activities planned are the creation of a joint contingency and warning plan for handling IT security incidents, and implementation of common cyber and information security exercises.
