NSSLGlobal has acquired MetOcean Telematics (UK) Ltd, adding satellite, cellular and radio-based asset tracking and surveillance capabilities to its communications and systems integration business. The deal will bring MetOcean Telematics into the NSSLGlobal Group as NSSLGlobal Technologies Ltd, with the combined portfolio spanning satellite communications, IoT tracking and security systems.
MetOcean Telematics provides tracking and surveillance solutions used by law enforcement and enterprise customers, with technology designed to locate and monitor assets through satellite, cellular and radio networks. Its portfolio also includes covert vehicle fitting for surveillance and communications equipment.
For shipowners and fleet managers, the acquisition is relevant to a wider communications stack that is moving beyond connectivity alone. NSSLGlobal already supplies satellite communications to commercial maritime customers, including patrol vessels, oil tankers and coastguard vessels, while the acquired business brings additional tracking and surveillance technology into the group.
The company said the acquisition will expand its reach into adjacent markets while combining communications and security capabilities. NSSLGlobal also plans to provide its satellite communication services and global support capability to MetOcean Telematics’ existing customers.
Sally-anne Ray, Group CEO, NSSLGlobal, said: “This acquisition provides us with the ability to strengthen our offering into this sector with an exciting portfolio of complementary products and services for our customers as well as offering the full suite of satellite communication alongside a global support capability into MetOcean Telematics (UK) Ltd existing customer base.”
Stuart Doe, Managing Director, MetOcean Telematics (UK) Ltd, said: “NSSLGlobal and MetOcean Telematics (UK) Ltd have a common go-to-market philosophy based around bringing value to customers through differentiation and excellent customer service.”
NSSLGlobal employs more than 250 staff across the UK, Germany, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Singapore and the US. The group also has a Norway-based R&D division developing IPTV and VSAT technology for mobility and fixed applications.
