Gelectric puts vessel data into conversation with new AI assistant for shipowners and managers

Gelectric has launched “Chat with Your Vessel”, a conversational interface designed to let shipowners, technical managers and chief engineers query live and historical vessel data using natural language. The feature aims to reduce the time spent searching through PDFs, emails, spreadsheets and separate sensor feeds, bringing operational information into a single vessel-specific interface.

Gelectric has introduced “Chat with Your Vessel” within its Gelectric Intelligence platform, giving technical teams a new way to interact with vessel data without having to work through multiple dashboards and operational records.

The Delft-based company says the feature allows users to ask direct questions about a vessel’s operations, including changes in generator fuel consumption, abnormal engine vibration and the latest reported remaining on board (ROB). The answers are drawn from the operational data available to the platform and are presented in the context of the vessel.

For shipowners and technical managers, this is less about adding another digital interface and more about making existing information easier to use. Vessel data often sits across emails, PDF reports, spreadsheets and sensor telemetry, leaving engineering teams to piece together information before they can make an operational assessment.

Gelectric’s Data Catching Engine is designed to handle that groundwork by ingesting, normalising and validating data from onboard and other operational sources. “Chat with Your Vessel” then provides a conversational layer over that data.

“Engineers and fleet managers shouldn’t have to spend half their day sifting through cluttered dashboards and conflicting PDF attachments to understand their vessel,” said Efil Bengisu Saygı, CEO and Co-founder of Gelectric. “By pairing our Data Catching Engine with a natural-language interface, we are providing technical leaders with an instant, always-available digital assistant that turns overwhelming raw data into actionable decision support and knowledge.”

The wider Gelectric Intelligence suite also includes automated compliance and performance reporting and real-time anomaly detection. The company describes the new feature as a change in how users interact with vessel data rather than simply another dashboard.
