Wagenborg Shipping agrees e-commerce deal

Dutch shipping company, Wagenborg Shipping has expanded its use of e-commerce after agreeing a new three-year deal to use the MarineLink service from EVRY.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The contract was agreed with EVRY following an existing relationship between Wagenborg and Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS), who Wagenborg already connect with via the MarineLink service at no additional monthly cost. This offer is a prepaid agreement Wilhelmsen Ships Service has for their customers with EVRY.

According to Wagenborg’s head of purchasing, the company started using the MarineLink (previously MTS) service in 2005 through its relationship with WSS, with the prepaid connection scheme giving the company its first taste of e-commerce.

Testing and evaluation of the concept demonstrated a range of benefits that were possible through the use of digital purchasing systems, the company says, and it has now extended its e-commerce options by using MarineLink to expand the number of suppliers it can connect to and increase the volume of transactions it can conduct electronically.{/mprestriction}
