Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement (TCM) is to roll out its in-house Tanker Competence and Promotion Management System (TCPMS) to its fleet of fifty-five tanker vessels by using Seagull Maritime’s Competence Manager platform.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}Available both on board and online, the Competence Manager forms part of the Seagull Training Administrator, used by shipping companies to monitor the career development of their seafarers.

The system operates in conjunction with Seagull’s reports and statistics on the existing e-learning material onboard.

TCM has been a user of Seagull’s e-learning modules and crew evaluation tests since 2004, with fleet-wide implementations since 2008. Seagull products are also used in its various manning offices worldwide, as well as in the Maria Tsakos TCM Academy established in 2013.

“The competence of our seagoing personnel is considered as the key success parameter for our company and as such we are making a lot of efforts, and we allocate significant resources to ensure that we attract, train and retain competent personnel,” said TCM management executives Capt. Panagiotis Drosos and Sokratis Dimakopoulos.

“To this effect the implementation of the TCPMS, which sets out specific work-related competencies required for each Officer to advance to the next rank, is expected to provide an additional value to our human resource management system in line with our standing objective for continual improvement.”{/mprestriction}
