ECDIS Ltd adds cyber training course

ECDIS Ltd has expanded its training portfolio with two new courses on Cyber Security Awareness (CSA), one for operators and one for management.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The courses cover a range of topics, from the risks of the internet through to hacking, while also including a case study on a large American company that staged a cyber-attack.

A pilot of the course was run at the end of 2016 to gain feedback from students prior to the release, with the company how aiming to be the world's first to receive UK MCA approval by designing the course in accordance with the IMO’s Interim Guidelines for Cyber Security, as well as Bimco’s Cyber Security Guidance and related STCW Tables.

“The course went well, we are feeling positive that this will be an invaluable tool for all shipping companies to gain insight into where they can improve their systems and indeed their company practices with regards to preventing cyber-attacks,” said course author and instructor, George Ward

The training programmes have been designed as standalone courses, or as an add-on to ECDIS Ltd’s existing Bridge Team Management (BTM) course.{/mprestriction}
