Milaha integrates robots to automate processes

Qatar-based maritime transport and logistics company Milaha has integrated a new Robotic Process Automation (RPA) system into its back office operations, which mimics human activities by using software robots and Artificial Intelligence to perform clerical tasks such as entry, processing, and transfer of data.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The system has been named ‘Tam’ by Milaha, which means “consider it done” in the Qatari dialect, and is capable of performing more than 70 transactions in less than two hours – tasks which would previously have taken more than one day to finish.

Developed by FourNxt, a specialist in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things technologies, Tam functions 24 hours a day and has reduced error rates to zero, Milaha says.

“The introduction of RPA into our operations is part of a company-wide initiative to automate the workplace with the ultimate goal of maximising our efficiency and accuracy, and we are proud to be one of the first Qatari companies to adopt such cutting-edge technology,” said Milaha’s president and CEO, Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai.

“Tam will also free up our staff to focus on complex higher-value tasks, decision-making, and client engagement. On the other hand, our automation drive directly contributes to the creation of a knowledge-based economy, a key component of Qatar National Vision 2030.”

The company says that it is now looking at other ways that it can integrate the system into its operations and improve a wider range of functions, and is also assessing additional technologies to increase efficiency and improve synergies among its various business units.{/mprestriction}
