ABS and Akselos partner to advance digital twin technology

ABS is teaming up with Akselos, a specialist in digital twin technology, to explore how modelling and simulation can enhance the application of digital technologies to maritime assets.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}Akselos’ numerical method is used to create many of the digital twins on the market today.  Finite Element Analysis (FEA) has limitations modelling large-scale assets with the fidelity needed to power next generation digital services. Akselos’ patented Reduced Basis FEA and ABS’ digital knowledge are expected to deliver new digital twin techniques that support improved asset performance.

Additional e-courses will focus on Reliability Management and Reliability Centred Maintenance. The e-courses to follow will be tailored to safety, risk and compliance management topics ranging from Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ISO Concepts, Safety Management, Quality, Environment, Risk Management Standards, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Management of Change (MOC) and International and Offshore Oil and Gas Regulations and Standards.

    All e-course materials are introductory, with the option of customisation for advanced or industry specific training. Accompanying training solutions are available such as public and private instructor led classroom training.   • JRC/Alphatron Marine reintroduces Marcom-A and ECDIS type specific training

    JRC/Alphatron Marine has installed new VSTEP simulators at its training facility in Rotterdam and re-introduced ECDIS Type Specific Training and Marcom-A training.

    The ECDIS Type Specific Training for both JRC and Wärtsilä (Transas) ECDIS is offered for an international audience in English and provides the required knowledge for the general use of the ECDIS as well as a detailed introduction to the system’s features.

    For ECDIS training, JRC/Alphatron Marine requires that the trainee has adequate experience on ECDIS and has accomplished the IMO Model Course 1.27

    The Marcom-A training represents the General Operating Certificate which allows users to operate maritime radio transmission equipment. Other facets of this study include the international GMDSS regulations, compulsory books, emergency procedures and daily use of the onboard equipment. Marcom-A training will be given only in Dutch and is certified by Dutch authority ILenT.
