Bulk Container Group acquires Kale consulting firm

Logistics solution provider Bulk Container Group (BCG) has acquired UK-based Kale Europe, a boutique maritime consulting firm specialising in the areas of digital transformation and technology across the logistics supply space.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"} The acquisition will enable BCG to introduce advanced sales demand forecasting by region and markets to allow the leasing and carrier groups to sell directly and save millions of dollars in storing and shifting unsold off hired aged equipment. According to BCG, container lines are under extreme pressure when off hiring and disposing of their end of life container fleets, costing millions of dollars.

CEO of BCG, Mr. Ian Zaretzky said that the acquisition was highly strategic in establishing a presence in the tightly controlled European market space. Kale Europe was selected for its domain experience, its visionary approach towards constructive disruptive technology solutions and its range of consulting services.

Kale Europe's managing director Richard Butcher said that Kale Group had been involved with a similar project back in the late 1980s, but the technology was not fully available at that time. Today, the ability for technology to “On-line Trade” is available and the group found that the technology and USP that the BCG Group could deliver plus its fast track success were key in its decision.

Mr Butcher also said that Kale’s strategy was always to align with a larger group to allow for natural growth.

Mr Butcher will become the new European managing director and will also serve as the first senior appointee to the executive supervisory board.

The administrative steps will be completed over the course of the next month. {/mprestriction}
