NYK signs up to Risk Intelligence maritime security system

Risk Intelligence has signed an agreement with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha - NYK Group (NYK) for the Risk Intelligence System (MaRisk+PortRisk).

{mprestriction ids="1,2"} With access to the Risk Intelligence System, NYK will be joining many other shipping companies that are assessing threats and risks based on intelligence and in-depth assessments from Risk Intelligence. Today, the fleet operated by Risk Intelligence clients is 14.7 per cent of the global merchant fleet in international traffic.

MaRisk provides the maritime community with world-wide maritime security incidents alerts and country and sea zone threat assessments to help shipping companies plan and execute safe shipping operations. MaRisk includes global maps and digital sea charts with 24/7 incident updates and 24/7 piracy alerts of motherships or attack groups, along with access to the Risk Intelligence Duty Watch team for queries, recommendations and guidance, and satellite fleet tracking integration as SAT AIS vessel position integration. PortRisk was added to the Risk Intelligence System in 2015, as the first true port security assessment product. Since then, more than 210 specifically selected ports around the world have been added to the system.

“We know NYK has a strong focus on security for their crew, vessels and entire supply chain and we are therefore proud that they have selected Risk Intelligence as one of their partners to assist them to do their global threat and risk assessments. The new agreement with NYK also marks our entrance into the important Japanese market and underlines our ability to build close client relationships with leading players across Asia. A capability that we enhanced with the opening of our Singapore office last year," said Hans Tino Hansen, CEO of Risk Intelligence.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the contract.
