Neptune Lines is deploying a standardised digital environment across its fleet of more than 20 pure car and truck carriers, working with Greek maritime technology company MTIS to centralise onboard IT management from shore. The system will cover a fleet serving 50 ports in 27 countries, with around 3,000 port calls and 1.3 million miles travelled each year.
The partnership puts the MTIS i-Platform© at the heart of Neptune Lines’ technology infrastructure. The platform gives the company’s ICT team centralised access, monitoring and management of onboard systems from shore, supported by AI-enabled surveillance and real-time operational visibility.
For a shipowner operating across a wide trading network, the approach is less about adding another standalone application and more about establishing a common technology environment across vessels. MTIS says its work covers needs analysis, system design, installation and commissioning, followed by continuous 24/7 technical support. The same technology strategy will also be applied to Neptune Lines’ newbuild vessels.
That fleet-wide approach matters because differences in onboard IT environments can make remote support, monitoring and system management harder to standardise. Neptune Lines is instead seeking to give its shore team a consistent view of its vessels, while retaining the onboard infrastructure needed for operations at sea.
C. Kapodistrias, Group ICT Manager at Neptune Lines, said reliability and continuity are critical for a fleet operating worldwide. The release also links the standardised IT environment and centralised i-Platform© management with operational visibility and safety.
The project also gives Neptune Lines a technology framework that can be carried into future vessels rather than rebuilt for each ship. For fleet managers, that creates a common foundation for onboard IT, shore-based monitoring and AI-enabled surveillance across a growing vessel portfolio.
