Norled is bringing maintenance, procurement, dry docking, inspections and analytics into UniSea across its 80-vessel fleet. The move gives the Norwegian ferry operator a shared data structure for technical work, with findings, work orders, purchasing and docking records connected in one system.
Norwegian ferry and express boat operator Norled is expanding its use of UniSea from HSEQ and operational management to a wider fleet management platform covering all 80 vessels.
The agreement adds UniSea Maintenance, Procurement, Maindeck for dry docking, Inspections and Analytics. For a shipowner managing scheduled services along Norway’s coast, the practical change is less about adding individual software modules and more about bringing technical workflows into a common system.
Maintenance and procurement will handle much of the daily work onboard. Maintenance brings jobs, running hours, component histories and spare parts into one fleet-wide structure, while Procurement connects requisitions raised from maintenance work with approvals, suppliers and receipts.
That connection gives shore teams a more complete record of why an item was purchased, which component it relates to and what it cost.
The wider platform also connects inspection findings with maintenance and docking work. Findings recorded through UniSea’s offline mobile app can be converted into work orders, while work identified during vessel operations can be included in upcoming dry-docking projects through Maindeck.
Arnulf Bie, Head of Technical Operations and Maintenance at Norled, said user experience was a key consideration in selecting the system. “For us it’s critically important to have the reality and the needs of the users onboard front-and-center as we make our choice of systems. We know UniSea as an easy to use tool for HSEQ already, and very much appreciate the focus on the end-user-experience in the technical modules as well.”
For ship management teams, the data connection is perhaps the most important part of the arrangement. Analytics can draw from maintenance, procurement, docking and inspection records without requiring information to be assembled across separate systems.
Lisbeth E. Skogland, Head of Digital at Norled, said the company reviewed solutions across the market before selecting UniSea. “A key element for choosing UniSea for Maintenance and Procurement is their focus on using the latest available technologies, focus on data-quality, predictive maintenance, AI, and a collaborative approach to how we will work together going forward.”
The agreement also builds on several years of Norled’s use of UniSea HSEQ, giving the operator a common digital environment across safety and technical operations.
